Ventnor Medical Practice is looking to add to its team of Administrative Staff. The number of hours can be negotiated however 20 hours plus would be preferred including full time.

The GP practice has approximately 8500 patients registered with it creating a significant daily demand at its two sites. The Practice is open Monday to Friday from 8 am till 6:30 pm and is usually closed on bank holidays.
Hours of work are generally via shifts covering whole mornings or afternoons but can also be long days; times and hours of work would be discussed and agreed with office managers dependent upon business need.
The roles that are being offered include:-
- being part of the telephone hub triaging and booking appointments, dealing with queries from patients
- working on the reception desk dealing with patient queries, recording arrival for appointments including vaccination clinics
- data clerk duties – running computerised reports in patient database, identifying patients requiring routine reviews & inviting them, cleansing data
- prescription processing
- general administrative duties

The role includes significant use of computers, especially the clinical system for managing patient medical records and Microsoft Office applications. The ability to type efficiently and accurately is an advantage as well as being confident to record discussions with patients. Training in the use of the software package TPP SystmOne, will be given on the job.
The ability to remain calm, polite and professional under pressure and to be caring to distressed, worried and unwell patients is essential. Previous work experience dealing with the public, both telephone and face to face, would be an advantage.
Patient confidentiality is of paramount importance as is the ability to remember and follow procedures and protocols and to apply them consistently.
